Vikings Sign Former Bears WR Kendall Wright to a One-Year Deal

The Minnesota Vikings arguably had one of the best WR corps in the game and they decided to amp it up even more with the addition of another talented pass catcher by the name of Kendall Wright.

Wright was a huge weapon for Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky as he led the Bears in receiving yards (614) only starting 4 of the 16 games he appeared in. Prior to the 2017 season Wright's career was injury riddled. He missed a total of 11 games between 2015 and 2016.

Although, when healthy Wright has shown a lot of potential. He is a former first-round pick (drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2012) and as a rookie he had 626 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. He followed up in 2013 with a career high of 1,079 yards. Wright will likely join the Vikings as a slot receiver alongside WRs Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs.

Adding Wright to the roster means that former first-round pick Laquon Treadwell and 2017 seventh-round pick Stacey Coley will have to compete for playing time. Not to mention the forgotten addition of former CFL WR Brandon Zylstra in early January adds even more talent and depth at WR.

The dynamic WR has the highest catch rate of any receiver outside the slot last year, per PFF and with his small size he provides deep threat speed. Wright has also shown elusiveness to take screens and shallow crossing routes to the house.

Vikings QB Kirk Cousins has plenty of weapons next season with a group of talented pass catchers, and two RBs- Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray- who can also catch balls and make plays.

VKNT welcomes you, Kendall! Get ready for the best season of your life! SKOL
